The Small Dog Breeds Meet and Greet

Well I said that I would chronicle small dog training, but I lied. I want to discuss why having a small dog is neat when I get off work at night.

I work from 3pm-11pm. We call it swing shift. So when I come home my girlfriend is already in bed, asleep, with the cats curled up next to her. Even if that cats awake they still don't feel it's necessary to say "hi" to me. Only if they are hungry at night will they bother to even greet me. But I see through there lies. They only claim to like me, but in reality they just want some food. Anywho....

Even before I take my shoes off I hear the frantic footsteps of the small dog down the stairs and across the hardwood floor. Her tail wagging furiously and her huge ears folded back. It really makes my night. Shes always really wild too, even though shes noticeably groggy from just having woken up.

This is where having a small dog is really useful. If I owned a great dane or even a lab I couldn't imagine that huge dog all crazy like when I come home. The dog would probably hurt me. But with a small dog breed I can pick her up if shes too out of control and there isn't much she can do about it.

I also forgot to mention that quickly after the meet and greet shes off up stairs to claim her treat. See, it really is still about food.
